Botox Therapy
Many patients of Pepose Vision Institute have realized the benefits of being treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Administered by our experienced professionals, your treatment will help you to smile, frown, and look surprised without those lines between your brows.
BOTOX® has been used therapeutically for more than 17 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It is approved in more than 75 countries and remains the most-studied botulinum toxin and one of the most widely researched medicines in the world. In 2002, the same formulation - under the label BOTOX® Cosmetic - was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows of people ages 18 and up.
Why choose PVI for Botox Therapy?
Experience
Our eye surgeons have performed thousands of microsurgeries of the eye and the surrounding orbit. They know the exact placement of nerves and muscles around the eyes, and have administered topical injections in that area of the face for many years.
Judgement
The surgeons at Pepose Vision will only offer Botox to a patient if they are convinced that it is safe and will meet patient expectations. At PVI, we are not afraid to say "no" to patients if they are not good candidates due to their health history or current health issues. Sure we could make more money by offering Botox to everyone. But that's not what we do.
Touch-Ups
Requiring Botox patients to return frequently for Botox treatment is a great way to increase practice revenues. We won't do this. Instead, we do everything possible to make sure that your Botox Therapy is right the first time, so that you are not burdened by the cost and hassle of frequent retreatments. We stand by our results with our no-cost "touch-up" policy between standard treatments: when medically indicated, we offer touch-ups during the first 30 days following each treatment at no additional charge. Our goal is simple: to provide you the maximum aesthetic effect for each paid treatment.
Availability
Ever try to reach your M.D. after office hours? You want the peace of mind from knowing you can reach your doctor if you have questions or concerns, especially after your procedure. At PVI, our doctors are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to respond to patients' concerns. You will never hear "hang up and call 911 for an emergency."
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Botox Cosmetic Wrinkle Therapy?
Botox Cosmetic Wrinkle Therapy - one of the few wrinkle therapies approved by the FDA - temporarily reduces facial signs of aging by minimizing the appearance of wrinkles across the forehead, between the brows, and the corner of the eyes. For many individuals, there is a noticeable eyebrow lift, creating a remarkable eye enhancing effect. Small amounts of Botox Cosmetic are administered into muscles underlying the wrinkle, causing a smoothing effect.
How does Botox Wrinkle Therapy work?
Dynamic facial wrinkles, the most prominent visible signs of aging, result from repeated contraction of certain facial muscles. Botox Cosmetic is administered to the muscles that create the wrinkles. Botox Cosmetic temporarily blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area and, as a result, weakens the muscle. As the muscle relaxes, wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear completely.
How long will the effects of my Botox treatment be noticeable?
Botox Cosmetic offers sustained benefits, dose after dose, over the course of long-term treatment. The full effect of Botox Cosmetic may not be apparent for several days or even a few weeks. Your first treatment will last approximately three months, with a gradual fading of its effects. At that time, you will return for your next treatment. As you continue to receive Botox treatment, the effects will last even longer, up to six months for some people. The degree and duration of effect varies from person to person. Treatment for crow's feet may be more frequent than therapy for frown lines or forehead creases. Beware of Botox providers who offer a low introductory price, but who require frequent retreatments - at additional cost - to sustain a Botox effect for more than a few weeks.
Does Botox Cosmetic treatment hurt?
When Botox Cosmetic is administered, there may be an initial minor sting. Once the treatment is completed, there is usually no residual discomfort. Often, the administration area will be pretreated with a topical anesthetic or ice compress to ensure your comfort.
As with any medical treatment, Botox is best left to experts. This is especially true if you're considering Botox treatments around the eyes. At Pepose Vision Institute, you'll have the best outcomes - fewer complications like droopy or sleepy eyelids and the peace of mind that comes from knowing you're getting the most qualified care available.
