Other Non-LASIK Options
Visian ICL
Many of our patients said they were told that they could not have LASIK, due to their thin corneas or they were too nearsighted. Now, there is an alternative to LASIK - the FDA approved Visian ICL™, Implantable Collamer Lens.
The Visian ICL™ (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a procedure for the correction of moderate to high nearsightedness (myopia) that will allow patients to enjoy their active lifestyle demands with nothing less than the highest quality of vision. Why do these patients come to Pepose Vision Institute for their Visian ICL? Because, we have a distinguished track record of surgical innovations and have experience with as many as 3 different lens implants for treating high levels of nearsightedness. The Visian ICL offers these attractive features:
- The Visian ICL procedure is very quick and comfortable. After a painless 15-minute outpatient procedure, most patients experience an immediate improvement in vision quality, producing the“WOW” effect!
- Due to the very small size of the incision required, healing is rapid and any minimal grittiness generally resolves within one or 2 days.
- High quality of vision – The Visian ICL not only improves your visual acuity, but it also enhances your quality of vision by producing sharp, vivid vision with greater depth and, dimension. These are the unique advantages that define what we call “High Definition Visian™.”
- Visian ICL is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved as safe and effective for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe nearsightedness (myopia) and has been successfully performed in over 55,000 patients worldwide.
- The Visian ICL has been embraced by the U.S. military because of the lens’ reliable visual clarity.

How do we do it?
- Pepose Vision Institute has been a leader in eyecare nationwide and with a proven track record in cataract
and other sight restoring procedures. Our surgeons are cornea subspecialists and are experienced in treating
myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
- The Implantation technique used in the Visian ICL procedure is similar to that used in modern day cataract surgery. The Visian ICL soft, flexible lens is inserted through a small incision in the patient’s eye.
- Each of our patients undergoes a state-of-the-art testing process, directly supervised by our surgeons, who then create a precise, personalized treatment plan.
- After a comprehensive eye examination, the ophthalmologist will discuss various surgeries options including the implantation of a lens like the Visian ICL, and/or laser refractive surgery.
- Based on the patients’ correction needs, eye health, medical history, and desired outcome for refractive surgery, your PVI eye surgeon will determine if you are a good candidate for the Visian ICL
- The Implantable Contact lens is made from a soft copolymer and collagen material called Collamer®,
and has a design similar to intraocular lenses currently used to correct vision after cataract surgery.
- The Visian ICL advanced lens material contains a UV blocker that actually prevents harmful UVA and
UVB rays from entering the eye, possibly preventing the development of UV related eye disorders.
- STAAR Surgical Company's, producer of Visian ICL, has a proven track record of providing improved quality of vision .To read more about this procedure, go to www.VisianInfo.com/
- Our surgeons are here to monitor the condition of your eyes for the rest of your life to ensure that you enjoy the very best vision possible.
While no one can promise perfect vision, Pepose Vision Institute is dedicated to doing everything it can to assure its patients a lifetime of quality vision.
