With the support of the Midwest Vision Research Foundation, Pepose Vision Institute operates one of the nation’s most influential ophthalmology research facilities. Our team, led by Primary Investigator Dr. Mujtaba Qazi, has helped bring groundbreaking technologies—like LASIK vision correction and advanced technology IOLs for cataract surgery—from research to reality.
What are clinical studies?
Clinical studies drive every medical advance. They test new drugs, devices, procedures, or even new uses of existing treatments. Participating in a study allows patients to:

What to Expect
Most studies require regular visits over a period of time so we can track progress carefully. At your initial consultation, our team will:

- Perform detailed eye exams and measurements
- Explain the study requirements, commitments, and any costs or compensation

Current studies
We have conducted and continue to conduct clinical studies in LASIK vision correction, cataract removal, age-related macular degeneration and other retinal services, dry eye treatment and more. We are continually evaluating research opportunities for new advanced eye treatments under review by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are adding new studies on a regular basis.
