Spring time is LASIK time!

It’s time to enjoy being outdoors without the hassles of glasses or contacts!
It’s that time of year. The cold weather is almost gone and spring is here. Time to enjoy being outside.

Biking. Jogging. Hiking. Swimming. Softball. Tennis.
You name it.

And every one of those activities is even more enjoyable when you don’t have to mess with glasses or contacts.

And that means LASIK.

What is LASIK?

LASIK, which stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis, is a popular surgery used to correct vision in people who are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism. LASIK works by reshaping the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, so that light traveling through it is properly focused onto the retina located in the back of the eye.

It works in much the same way that the lens of a camera focuses light to create an image on film. The bending and focusing of light is also known as refraction. Usually the shape of the cornea and the eye are not perfect and the image on the retina is out-of-focus (blurred) or distorted. These imperfections in the focusing power of the eye are called refractive errors.

Glasses or contact lenses are designed to compensate for the eye’s imperfections. Surgical procedures aimed at improving the focusing power of the eye are called refractive surgery. In LASIK surgery, precise and controlled removal of corneal tissue by a special laser reshapes the cornea changing its focusing power.
